About Johannes Wessmark
Johannes Wessmark is a Swedish hyperrealist painter whose work explores the visual and emotional tension between water, light, and the human form.
Working primarily in acrylic and oil on canvas, Wessmark builds his paintings through numerous controlled layers, transforming fleeting photographic moments into highly detailed, carefully composed images. His realism is not intended merely to reproduce what the camera sees, but to intensify atmosphere, surface and physical presence.
His work has been exhibited internationally in London, Barcelona, Los Angeles, San Francisco and other major art centres. Paintings by Wessmark are held in the collection of the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, Stockholm Konst, The Count Ibex Collection in London, and private collections across Europe and North America.
Wessmark lives and works in Sweden. He is represented in the United States by Gefen Gallery, San Francisco, and in the United Kingdom by Plus One Gallery, London.
